Managing Director of State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), Hussain Fahmy, announced yesterday that the monument at the entrance to the Sinamale’ Bridge has suffered damage, attributing it to negligence during the tenure of the former President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s government.
In response to the damage, the bridge has been temporarily closed for the past two nights, during which STELCO conducted an inspection of the LED lights installed at the monument. It was noted that these lights have not been operational for an extended period.
Highlighting the significance of the bridge as a major national asset, Fahmy emphasised the importance of ensuring its optimal condition through timely and proper maintenance.
Addressing the issue, the newly elected President Dr Mohamed Muizzu underscored the government’s commitment to rectify the situation promptly. He assured that special attention will be given to the repair and maintenance of the bridge to ensure the safety and well-being of all users.
