MET Office Issues Yellow Alert from Noonu to Laamu

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has issued a yellow allert for the region spanning from Noonu atoll to Laamu atoll.

This alert is in effect from 13:00 hours to 17:00 hours, today. The forecast warns of torrential rain and thunderstorms, with gusts of upto 45mph and rough seas within the affected region.

The MMS recommends that individuals residing in or visiting the affected regions remain alert and take appropriate safety measures.

MMS categorises weather alerts as follows:

  • White alert: Alert Level 1
  • Yellow advisory: Alert Level 2
  • Orange warning: Alert Level 3
  • Red warning: Alert Level 4
