Gov’t Initiates Transfer of Hulhumale’ Municipal Services to Male’ City Council

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has taken the decision to shift all municipal services of Hulhumale’ to the Male’ City Council within the next month.

In a statement posted on X, Muizzu announced that his Cabinet has resolved to transfer the municipal services of Hulhumale’ to the Male City Council, in adherence to the existing legal provisions. Accordingly, he outlined that the transfer process involving offices, machinery, equipment, municipal land, and staff will be finalised within the stipulated one-month timeframe.

Muizzu also assured that all staff members will continue to receive their current remuneration for a period of one year. Emphasising that the transfer of all municipal services from Hulhumale’ to the Male’ City Council fulfills a commitment made during the election campaign, he promised that further details regarding the process would be disclosed shortly.

Hulhumale’ municipal services are presently administered by Urbanco. During his electoral campaign, Muizzu had pledged to execute the transfer of all municipal services from Hulhumale’ to the Male’ City Council within the initial 100 days of his administration.
