Health Minister Abdulla Khaleel, Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen, and Dharumavantha Hospital Chief Executive Officer Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem attended the launch ceremony. Haleem highlighted the significance of the service, emphasizing its role in facilitating easier access for Vilimale’ residents. He noted that the sea ambulance would alleviate patient transportation issues even before the completion of the Male’ and Vilimale’ bridges.
The sea ambulance service will operate under the supervision of Vilimale Hospital and IGMH, with the city council providing a designated space for the launch. Minister Khaleel acknowledged previous complaints about difficulties in transporting patients from Villingili to Male’ and expressed optimism about the improved capabilities of the new sea ambulance service.
Khaleel stated, “Fortunately, we now have a better, bigger, and more extensive service launch compared to the existing sea ambulances in the Maldives. These services mark just the beginning, and if additional medical equipment is required for further expansion, we are committed to meeting those needs. Our goal is to continually enhance the services provided for the community, focusing on the future.”
