During his visit, agreements were formalised, with China committing 920 million yuan (equivalent to about USD 130 million) in free aid to the Maldives for projects identified by the government. The primary focus of this assistance is directed towards the enhancement of infrastructure, particularly the construction and improvement of roads in the capital city.

Muizzu emphasised that the allocated funds would not be exclusively dedicated to road development in Male’. The government plans to utilise the free aid for various projects aimed at overall socioeconomic progress.

In addition to the assistance for road infrastructure, several other agreements were inked during Muizzu’s visit to China. These include plans for the construction of 30,000 social housing units in Rasmale’, the expansion of Velana International Airport, and a collaboration with a Chinese firm for the construction of seven buildings under the name Commercial Spine in Urban Isle of Hulhumale’ Phase II. These initiatives reflect a broader scope of bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
