Part of the government’s 14-week roadmap, the Hiyala Weekend Market is a collaborative effort led by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, in conjunction with the Business Centre Corporation (BCC).

The primary objective of this initiative is to establish a dedicated marketplace in Hulhumale’ to promote and sell products created by women entrepreneurs. The market is slated to operate every weekend, offering a platform for local women to showcase and sell food and various locally crafted items.

During her address at the inauguration ceremony, Minister Aishath highlighted that the market serves as another avenue for presenting women’s products to the public. She confirmed the fulfilment of two pledges made by President Dr. Muizzu under his administration – the disbursement of the USD6.5 million women’s loan and the introduction of a specialised loan designed for small businesses.
