76 Cases of Violence Against Children Attended in December 2023

Statistics released by the Ministry of Social and Family Development reveal that the Ministry received and attended to a total of 76 cases of violence against children in the month of December 2023, which included 42 girls and 34 boys.

This is a decrease compared to the month of November 2023, which saw a total of 131 cases, which included 67 girls and 64 boys.

In December, the most commonly reported form of child abuse was physical violence, with 26 cases documented during the month.

Additionally, there were 14 cases of sexual violence, 11 cases of negligence, 10 cases of victim to bullying and harrasment, eight cases of witness to demoestic voilence, four cases of emotional abuse, two cases of victims of cyber bullying and one case of others.

In December 2023, the Ministry of Gender, Family, and Social Services received a total of 199 reported cases concerning various issues related to child welfare and family well-being.
