Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan has urged former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to provide evidence supporting his assertion that the attack on Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem was politically motivated.

In a statement posted on X, Solih, acting leader of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), condemned the attack and labelled it as “politically motivated.”

Responding to Solih’s remarks on X, Ihusan indicated that the former president’s claim implies possession of credible information regarding the motive and perpetrators of the attack.

Ihusan confirmed that he has instructed investigators to collaborate with Solih’s office to pursue any pertinent leads.

Moreover, he assured the public that law enforcement authorities are prioritising the investigation into Shameem’s assault and are committed to apprehending those responsible.

The incident took place on a Male’ City street this morning, resulting in injuries to Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem, who is currently undergoing medical treatment at ADK Hospital.
