ECM Reveals Over 3,000 Voters Re-Registered for Parliamentary Elections
The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has revealed that over 3,000 voters have completed the re-registration process in preparation for the upcoming parliamentary elections, with the re-registration period continuing until 1600hrs tomorrow.
This allows individuals to update their voting details, including changing their location or island of registration if necessary. Notably, those initially registered in locations such as resorts, abroad, industrial sites, and prisons will now have their registrations shifted to their permanent addresses.
According to ECM, a total of 3,769 people have applied for re-registration, out of which 3,302 applications have been successfully processed, while 467 were rejected for various reasons. The commission has advised voters to verify their current registration status before applying for re-registration.
The re-registration process is conducted online, with voters able to submit their requests via the e-Faas application. For online submissions through the re-registration portal, applicants must furnish a copy of an official document confirming their voter status. However, those using the eFaas application are exempt from providing a photograph or images of both sides of their ID card.
For individuals encountering difficulties in submitting their forms online, ECM has extended assistance at its headquarters in Dharubaaruge, where staff members are on hand to provide support.
Additionally, ECM has facilitated options for checking registered voter information through its website and by sending a message to 1414.
