The Maldivian Red Crescent is issuing a call for volunteers to aid in the ongoing Filaria Response programme; an initiative to screen for filariasis in the  Central Region of Maldives.

The organisations are seeking individuals who can dedicate their time and support on both weekdays and weekends.

Collaborating closely with the Health Protection Agency, the call for volunteers aims to bolster the ongoing screening efforts for Filaria in the Central Region of the Maldives.

Volunteers are required for various tasks, including:

  • Assisting in the briefing and dissemination of crucial information.
  • Participating in field outings during weekdays, specifically between 4-6 PM.
  • Providing translation services.
  • Assisting in the management of operations on-site.
  • Dividing into teams to support screening activities across different atolls in the Central Region, spanning from Kaafu to Laamu.
  • Field outings are scheduled throughout weekdays from 4-6 PM, while screenings predominantly occur over weekends.

Those with availability during these times are encouraged to sign up. Additionally, an awareness session on Filaria, in coordination with the HPA, will precede the screening support.
