Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu has assured the public of the government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted education for students residing in Hulhumale’ Phase II.
Dr. Shafeeu underscored the administration’s dedication to addressing the concerns raised by parents in the area, stating that necessary measures would be taken to facilitate the education of students. He acknowledged the repeated requests from parents for their children’s enrollment and revealed that the ministry had received over 800 such requests as of Wednesday, with expectations of the number surpassing 1,000 by the end of 2024.
In response to these challenges, Dr. Shafeeu proposed the possibility of splitting the academic hours of Salaahuddin School into two sessions, a move aimed at accommodating the educational needs of both parents and students.
The minister attributed the current difficulties faced by parents and students in Phase II to what he described as negligence during the development of Salaahuddin School by the previous government.
In a related development, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu initiated the construction of a new school in Phase II on December 25th, 2023, with a capacity to accommodate 1,700 students.
