BCC Unveils ‘Dhiveheennah Iskan’ Initiative to Boost Local Products
The Business Centre Corporation (BCC) has launched a social media initiative named “Dhiveheennah Iskan” with the objective of promoting local products across the Maldives.
Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, officially commenced the campaign, scheduled to run until April 16, encompassing all the islands of the nation.
The mechanics of the campaign, as outlined by BCC, entail the distribution of local products in environmentally friendly packaging. Participants are encouraged to pass on a local product to another individual using the same bag and share their experiences on social media, tagging both BCC and the respective product manufacturer.
Minister Saeed, following the inauguration of the campaign, highlighted the longstanding tradition of gift-giving within the community, emphasising that the gifts exchanged in this campaign are locally produced items. He also underscored the potential of the initiative to significantly benefit Maldivian manufacturers.
BCC has articulated that the primary objective of the campaign is to enhance the visibility of products crafted by Maldivian artisans and stimulate greater public interest in their craftsmanship.
The campaign welcomes a diverse range of local products, including culinary delights and artisanal crafts. Additionally, BCC has announced a 10% discount on all purchases made at the Authentic Maldives store in Male’ City throughout the campaign duration.
