A new reporting system has been introduced to enable individuals to alert the Directorate of Aviation Security Administration (DASA) of potential security threats or suspicious activities.

The initiative aims to mitigate risks that could compromise the safety of aviation facilities, aircraft or any other areas pertinent to civil aviation security, DASA said in a statement released Wednesday.

The system allows individuals to confidentially report any identified or suspected breaches of aviation regulations via the Ministry of Defence website (www.defence.gov.mv). The platform ensures anonymity for those submitting concerns, with all information treated as strictly confidential.

Commencing from March 31, 2024, individuals are strongly advised and encouraged to utilise the Aviation Security Confidential Reporting System to report any security incidents or breaches promptly.

People can use the system to report security breaches, suspicious activities, disruptive or unruly passengers, implementation of security measures at airports or any acts and omissions that jeopardise the safety of passengers, crew, ground personnel and the general public.

Emphasising the importance of public cooperation in safeguarding the nation’s aviation security, authorities are urging users of air transport to actively participate in this initiative.

This proactive approach aims to strengthen the overall aviation security framework in the Maldives, fostering a safer environment for all stakeholders involved in civil aviation operations.
