State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has disclosed that it has received 659 phone calls and 6,135 messages following the initiation of a platform for lodging complaints concerning spikes in electricity bills for the current month.
Numerous individuals have taken to social media to voice their apprehensions over what they perceive as unusually steep electricity bills. In response to mounting concerns, the company called for complaints to be lodged regarding this issue.
STELCO relayed that over the past two days, they had fielded 659 telephone inquiries concerning electricity bills, assuring the public that all calls had been duly addressed.
Additionally, the company stated that it had received 6,135 messages via various platforms, including Viber, WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, and the STELCO website.
Individuals seeking to register complaints regarding electricity bills are encouraged to utilise the company’s customer service hotline at 7788438 via WhatsApp or Telegram. Alternatively, complaints can be lodged via email at billing@stelco.com.mv.
STELCO has clarified that it is not uncommon for bills to register an uptick during periods of hot weather. Nevertheless, the company has assured customers that they are billed strictly according to their actual usage and can review their billable amount prior to billing.
