STELCO and Maldives Polytechnic Sign Agreement to Enhance Workforce Development

State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) and Maldives Polytechnic have signed an agreement aimed at bolstering workforce development across various employment sectors.

The agreement was formalised by STELCO’s Managing Director, Hussain Fahmy, and Maldives Polytechnic’s Chief Executive Officer, Zushan Kamaludeen. The partnership is designed to provide technical and vocational training for STELCO employees while offering Polytechnic students opportunities for industrial experience at STELCO.

Under the terms of the agreement, Maldives Polytechnic will assist STELCO in conducting essential training programmes and offer its graduates opportunities for industrial placements at STELCO, depending on available capacity. 

Additionally, Polytechnic teachers and students will be able to observe engine overhauls at power plants in Male’ City and the Greater Male’ Region, and participate in various short training programmes in both technical and non-technical fields, as agreed upon by both parties.

The agreement also enables STELCO employees with the necessary qualifications and experience to teach courses at Maldives Polytechnic. 

Moreover, Polytechnic teachers and students will be granted free access to in-house training programmes conducted by STELCO using foreign trainers. This agreement is set to last for a duration of five years.
