Indian Minister of External Affairs Visits ThilaMale’ Bridge
India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishanka has visited the ThilaMale’ Bridge site to observe the progress of the ongoing construction.
The visit was accompanied by Maldives’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, Moosa Zameer, and Minister of Construction and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib.
Dr. Jaishankar shared photos from the site on social media platform X, emphasising the significance of the project in enhancing connectivity and boosting the Maldivian economy.

According to the most recent updates from the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure, the ThilaMale’ Bridge had reached 29 percent completion by November last year. The project is reported to be 40 percent complete.
The ThilaMale’ Bridge is a USD 500 million project, funded through a USD 400 million Line of Credit from India’s EXIM Bank, alongside a USD 100 million grant from the Indian government. The Male’ – ViliMale’ section of the bridge is expected to be completed by February next year, with the entire project slated for completion by late 2026.
