It was noted that five of the reported cases were unrelated to immigration issues. The Immigration Watch portal, accessible through the official website Imuga, allows individuals to lodge cases, including anonymous submissions.

Addressing the nation’s ongoing efforts to tackle illegal immigration, the current administration has prioritised identifying and deporting undocumented immigrants. In the past seven months, over 2,000 expatriates have been deported, with ongoing raids aimed at identifying expatriates involved in illegal business activities in the Maldives.

So far, these operations have led to the detention of more than 150 expatriates working illegally in the country.
