Dhiraagu held the graduation ceremony for participants of the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme 2025 yesterday, marking the completion of the programme for the 16th consecutive year. A total of 15 apprentices received certificates upon successfully completing the programme.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed, as the chief guest. Heads of educational institutions, along with members of Dhiraagu’s board and senior management, were also present.

The Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme is the company’s flagship corporate social responsibility initiative and the first corporate apprenticeship programme introduced in the Maldives. The programme focuses on developing employability skills among Maldivian youth and has been conducted since 2009. To date, 312 young people have enrolled in the programme.

During the event, Dhiraagu also welcomed the 17th batch of apprentices, with 25 participants joining the 2026 intake. The programme offers structured training, soft skills development, and hands-on experience across Dhiraagu’s core business areas. Apprentices are placed in Malé and at Dhiraagu’s regional operations centres across the country.

According to Dhiraagu, at the ceremony, Minister Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed said the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme has set a strong example in vocational training over the past 17 years. He commended Dhiraagu for its continued commitment to developing the skills and talents of Maldivian youth and for its role in contributing to a skilled workforce for the labour market.

Dhiraagu Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ismail Rasheed congratulated the graduates and welcomed the new intake of apprentices. He said the programme aims to provide participants with practical professional experience, technical skills, and a strong work ethic. He added that Dhiraagu hopes apprentices will use the knowledge and experience gained through the programme to further their careers.
