16 Foreign Nationals Detained in Malé Raids for Immigration Violations

The Maldives Immigration have detained 16 foreign nationals for immigration violations following inspections carried out yesterday at two accommodation blocks in Malé.

According to authorities, the Task Force conducting ongoing raid operations targeting individuals residing in the Maldives illegally inspected premises on Firoazu Magu and Kenaree Magu. During the operation, 113 expatriates were screened, leading to the detention of those found to be in breach of immigration regulations. The 16 individuals were taken into the custody of Immigration for further action.

The inspections form part of a broader enforcement campaign aimed at addressing illegal residency and employment in the country.

The Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology has previously said that, over the past two years, the total number of foreign nationals deported from the Maldives has reached 9,697, reflecting the scale of ongoing enforcement efforts.
