37 Cases of Gender Based Violence Received on December 2023

Statistics released by the Ministry of Social and Family Development reveal that the Ministry received and attended to a total of 37 cases of gender-based violence in the month of December 2023, which included 33 females and four males.

Comparatively, the month of November 2023 saw 39 cases of gender-based violence. 

In December, the most commonly reported form of domestic violence was emotional abuse / verbal abuse, with 18 cases documented during the month. 

Additionally, during December month, there were 16 cases of physical violence / abuse, two cases of sexual violence / abuse and one case of rape.

In December 2023, the Ministry of Gender, Family, and Social Services received a total of 199 reported cases concerning various issues related to child welfare and family well-being.
