56 Road Accidents Reported Across Malé, Bridge and Highway in One Week

A total of 56 road accidents were reported across Malé, the Sinamalé Bridge and the highway between 22 and 28 March 2026, according to statistics released by the Maldives Police Service.
Police data shows that Malé recorded the vast majority of incidents, with 49 cases, while the remaining accidents occurred on the bridge and highway. The highest number of accidents in a single day was reported on 25 March, when 13 incidents were recorded. Most of the accidents took place during daytime hours.
Motorcycle-related collisions continued to dominate accident figures during the week. Police reported 14 motorcycle-to-car collisions and 14 motorcycle-to-motorcycle collisions, making them the most common types of incidents. In addition, seven hit-and-run cases were recorded during the period.

Of the total accidents, 55 resulted in minor injuries, while one case involved a serious injury.
The Maldives Police Service urged all road users to remain vigilant and adhere to traffic regulations, stressing the importance of attentiveness and consideration for others on the road.
