68-Year-Old Man Rescued From Sea After Boat Sinks Declared Safe

A man rescued from the sea after his boat sank has been declared safe by the Maldives Police Service. 

Police said they received a report at around 11:50am today that a boat travelling from Funadhoo to Feevah in Shaviyani Atoll had sunk, prompting an immediate search operation. Officers located the man, 68, in the sea near Feevah, rescued him, and transported him to the island.

The police confirmed that the man is safe and in good health. They added that he had been sailing alone at the time of the incident, and cautioned other travellers to remain alert for loose items that may have fallen into the sea from the vessel when travelling in the area.
