Employees of Aasandha have submitted a petition to the President’s Office and the Privatisation and Corporatisation Board, raising concerns over the company’s decision to dissolve its Case Processing Department next month.

The petition, signed by 50 employees, highlights that the decision will affect more than 60 staff members and disrupt the company’s operations. It notes that Managing Director Aminath Zeeniya announced on 20 January the dissolution of the department and the removal of supervisors’ roles, replacing them with shift in-charges.

The employees argue that the restructuring will compel experienced staff to take on roles unrelated to their expertise and training. They claim that the management implemented this change without consultation or a clear explanation, leaving workers feeling undervalued and demotivated.

The petition outlines several demands, including:

  • Maintaining the Case Processing Department in its current form.
  • Restoring the supervisor roles.
  • Reinstating the MVR 1,000 supervisor allowance for additional responsibilities.
  • Ensuring an equitable distribution of workload.
  • Consulting employees before implementing significant changes that affect them.

The petition further states that some employees have resigned due to dissatisfaction with the management’s approach, which has created additional challenges for remaining staff and eroded their confidence in the company’s leadership.
