Waheed, who served as the Special Advisor to JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim, announced his departure via a tweet, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to work with Qasim Ibrahim.
Waheed’s tweet conveyed his appreciation for the valuable experience gained during his tenure with JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim. He also announced his departure stating that he would remain in the ranks of the country and the people.
Ali Waheed’s political journey began with the Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) during the tenure of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. He represented the Thoddoo constituency as a member of the DRP and later transitioned to the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) during the presidency of Former President Nasheedh.
During his career in politics, Ali Waheed served as the Minister of Tourism in the government. However, his tenure was marred by allegations of sexual assault involving female employees of the ministry.
Subsequently, he spent a considerable period in the United Kingdom. Waheed returned to the Maldives after the charges against him were withdrawn.
