The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has confirmed that all individuals listed in the Maldives Hajj Corporation’s queue for the current year will have the opportunity to perform the pilgrimage in 2025.
This marks a significant development, as it is the first time in many years that all listed individuals will be accommodated in the same year. The Ministry stated that further details regarding this year’s Hajj quota, including the allocation and utilisation process, will be officially announced on 26 May.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu had earlier announced that every person in the Hajj Corporation’s queue for this year would be able to travel to Saudi Arabia for the pilgrimage. He also announced a revision to the quota allocation policy, under which priority will be given from next year to those who have not previously performed Hajj.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the Maldives Hajj Corporation are working in coordination to improve services for Maldivian pilgrims. One of the key developments this year is the inclusion of the Maldives in the Makkah Route Initiative, which is designed to streamline the travel process for pilgrims. The initiative is being described as a historic achievement under President Muizzu’s administration.
