Newly-appointed Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen is set to receive compensation of MVR 2 million in an employment dispute from his former position at Island Aviation Service.
Ameen reached a resolution in the employment dispute with the former Director of Flight Operations at Island Aviation, following his dismissal in June 2019.
The disagreement prompted Ameen to file a case in the Civil Court, which initially ruled against him. However, the Civil Aviation authority appealed the decision in the High Court.
The High Court ultimately determined that the matter had been settled out of court. As part of the resolution, Ameen has agreed to compensate the former employee with MVR 2,202,580.02. This amount covers the salary and allowances owed to him from the date of dismissal up to the agreement date.
Furthermore, the Civil Court has instructed the payment of the individual’s salary and allowances from the date of termination until the case’s settlement. Additionally, the court mandated either the reinstatement of Ameen’s employment or the provision of an alternative position at an equivalent level.
