The President’s Office has opened applications for one member of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM).
Applications will be accepted until 12 p.m. on Monday, 22 September 2025. Submissions can be made on working days between 8:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. until the deadline. The President’s Office is aiming to fill the seat of the current President of HRCM, Maryam Muna, whose term expires on November 30, 2025.
The announcement follows the swearing-in of Mohamed Shafeeg Mahmood and Ahmed Magsoom as HRCM members earlier this week. Both took the oath of office before Supreme Court Justice Mohamed Saleem and received their official letters of appointment from the President.
Meanwhile, Parliament is scheduled to hold a special sitting next Monday to elect presidents for both the HRCM and the Civil Service Commission (CSC), according to People’s National Congress (PNC) parliamentary group leader Ibrahim Falah.
