This 12-week programme will be structured around five key modules: environmental science, environmental law and its implementation, social inclusion and awareness, basic computer skills, and maritime navigation. The course will take place at the Laamu Atoll Gan Campus of the Maldives National University (MNU) and will include both theoretical and practical sessions. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate.

Interested candidates must submit their applications online by 2:00 pm on 30 April. The training is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) through the ‘Enhancing National Development through Environmentally Resilient Islands (Endheri)’ project, which aims to build local capacity for environmental protection and conservation.

The Maldives currently has more than 90 protected areas, with six of these areas managed under specific plans. Notable locations include Vandhoo in Raa Atoll, the Biosphere Reserve in Baa Atoll, Gaadhoo in Laamu Atoll, Fuvahmulah Biosphere Reserve, and Addu Biosphere Reserve, some of which are designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserves.
