Authorities Probe Disappearance of Seized USD 30,000

The Maldives Police Service has launched an investigation into the reported loss of USD 30,000 that was seized in connection with a case dating back to September 2019.

According to police, the discrepancy was identified on Wednesday during an internal check of the funds held in custody. The Criminal Investigation Command is overseeing the inquiry into the missing amount.

Authorities also confirmed that damaged banknotes were found in the bag where the seized money had been stored. The recovered notes are now being examined by forensic experts.
