Authorities Seize Suspected Heroin Worth MVR 2 Million

On October 15, 2024, customs officials seized 2.05 kg of suspected heroin from the luggage of two Indian passengers arriving from Malaysia.

The individuals, a 41-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were subjected to a search of their luggage, during which the drugs were discovered.

Initial analysis confirmed the items were heroin, with an estimated street value of MVR 2,050,000. The drugs, along with the two passengers, have been handed over to the Maldivian Police for further investigation.
