Avas App dismissed one of its drivers yesterday following misconduct allegations.
In a press release, Avas Enterprises, which operates Avas App, stated that it received a report accusing driver Mohamed Wafir of refusing to take a passenger to her destination and attempting to divert her to a secondary location. The incident occurred on Saturday while the passenger was travelling from Hulhumalé to Malé.
After discussing the matter with both parties, the company decided on Sunday to permanently terminate Wafir’s employment, revoking his access to all company services, including Avas Ride and Taxi Centre.
Avas Enterprises has reported the case to the Maldives Police Service and the Transport Authority of Maldives.
“We urge the authorities to take appropriately harsh action in such cases to maintain trust in this service,” the company stated in Dhivehi.
The company also apologised to the passenger and pledged to take measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
