Central Hithadhoo MP Ahmed Azaan Marzooq (PNC), who was previously removed from key parliamentary committees, has been reinstated.
Azaan was taken off the Parliament’s Committee on National Security Services (241 Committee) earlier this year after he abstained from voting on the government’s proposal to dismiss Supreme Court judges. At the time, he also voiced concerns over several government-backed bills.
During Tuesday’s sitting, Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla announced changes to committee membership. Villimale’ MP Mohamed Ismail (PNC) has been appointed to replace Azaan in the 241 Committee. Meanwhile, Azaan has been reinstated to the Public Accounts Committee, where he takes the place of North Henveyru MP Ahmed Aifan (PNC).
The reshuffle marks Azaan’s return to a main oversight committee following several months away from such roles.
