Baa Zone Action Kicks Off in Tekkers Dhiraagu Resort Cup 2025 at Royal Island Maldives

The Tekkers Dhiraagu Resort Cup 2025 moved to the Baa Zone on Thursday, officially kicking off at Royal Island Maldives. Eight teams are competing across two groups for the title of Baa Atoll Champion and the opportunity to advance to the national stage.
The opening ceremony featured a cultural dance performance by the Royal Island team and was hosted by MC Madhuritu, Learning and Development Manager. Royal Island’s Resident Manager, Mohamed Afrah, presented the Baa Zone Champions Trophy and delivered a welcome speech. The ceremony concluded with the Maldivian National Anthem, following Royal Island and The Nautilus’ entrance to the FIFA Anthem.
On the first day of Group A matches, The Nautilus defeated Royal Island 7–4, overturning a 3–4 half-time deficit. Mohamed Rasheed of The Nautilus was named Man of the Match, receiving the award from legendary Maldivian futsal goalkeeper Ismail Fathih (Thaadro). In the second Group A match, Milaidhoo Island Maldives beat The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo 4–1, after leading 2–0 at half-time. Mohamed Rafhan of Milaidhoo was named Man of the Match.
Group B matches are scheduled for Friday, 16 August, featuring Finolhu Baa Atoll against Soneva Fushi and Dusit Thani Maldives versus Vakkaru Maldives. The winner of the Baa Zone will advance to compete at the national stage of the Tekkers Dhiraagu Resort Cup 2025.
