Bad weather conditions affecting the Maldives are expected to continue until at least next Tuesday, according to the Maldives Meteorological Service.
The country has been experiencing widespread rain, strong winds and rough seas since last week. The Maldives Meteorological Service has attributed the conditions to a strengthening of the Southwest Monsoon, known locally as the Hulhangu Monsoon.
The agency has forecast scattered showers, including periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms, across the country on Tuesday. Winds are expected to blow from the southwest or west at speeds between 10 and 20 miles per hour, with gusts reaching up to 35 miles per hour during showers.

Sea conditions are expected to remain moderate but may become rough during showers, with wave heights ranging from three to six feet.
A white alert was issued yesterday for heavy rain and thunderstorms, with gusts of up to 40 miles per hour, for the area stretching from N Atoll to F Atoll. The alert is expected to remain in effect until at least 5:00 pm.
