Balasubramanian Appointed as India’s New Ambassador to the Maldives
The Ministry of External Affairs of India has announced the appointment of G. Balasubramanian as the next Ambassador of India to the Maldives.
Balasubramanian, who currently serves as India’s Ambassador to Nigeria, is set to take up his new assignment shortly.
A career diplomat from the 1998 batch of the Indian Foreign Service, Balasubramanian brings a wealth of experience to the role. His previous postings have included significant assignments in Indian missions in Russia, the United States, and Thailand. His expertise in international relations is anticipated to further strengthen the robust bilateral relationship between India and the Maldives.
He succeeds Munu Mahawar, who has served as India’s Ambassador to the Maldives since 17 November 2021. The transition reflects India’s continued emphasis on regional diplomacy and collaboration with its neighbours, with a focus on fostering mutual development and shared prosperity in the Indian Ocean region.
