Bank of Maldives (BML) announced up to USD 1,000 for Maldivian patients going abroad for medical treatments not covered by Aasandha, the national health insurance scheme, or the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA).
Previously, patients travelling abroad without referrals from either agency were limited to the general USD 500 travel allowance.
To qualify for the revised scheme, patients must submit a doctor’s referral, medical history or diagnosis, appointment confirmation, and travel documents via BML’s mobile app or internet banking.
