The Bar Council of the Maldives has denied any association with a fake mock bar exam paper circulating online that features its official logo.

In a press release issued yesterday, the council stated that any document not published on its official website or social media channels is not endorsed by the council. It said these platforms are used exclusively to share information on the bar exam, scheduled for October this year.

“We urge the public not to produce mock examination papers bearing the council’s logo, as this could give the false impression they were issued by the council and mislead exam candidates,” the council said.

It has also decided to request the Maldives Police Service to investigate the circulation of the fake paper.

The bar exam is held annually to assess law graduates’ eligibility to practise law in the Maldives. Maldivians with a qualifying law degree from an accredited institution are eligible to sit the exam. Registration for this year’s exam closed on 31 July 2025, and the exam will take place on 11 October.

The syllabus, reading materials, and practice questions are available on the council’s website.
