Body of Missing Crew Member Found After Landing Craft Capsizing

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has confirmed that the body of a missing crew member from the capsized Almaak Fiya landing craft was found floating between two islands in Kaafu Atoll yesterday night.
According to the Maldives Police Service (MPS), the body of the Sri Lankan crew member was discovered between Ailafushi and Villa Nautica.
The 100-foot vessel, Almaak Fiya, was travelling from Malé City to K. Eriyadhoo with seven crew members when it overturned about 1.3 nautical miles off K. Thulhaagiri on Thursday. Four of the crew were rescued by the Coast Guard shortly after the incident.

Authorities have since confirmed the deaths of two sailors. The deceased includes Ahmed Shifan, 38, from Gaafu Alifu Atoll, Dhaandhoo, and an Indian national who has not yet been publicly identified.
