The equipment will help MACL’s frontline staff provide lifesaving first aid, strengthening safety for the 125,000 British tourists who visit the country annually, as well as the wider public.

“The UK places the highest priority on the safety of British nationals abroad, and this initiative helps protect the significant number of British tourists who travel to the Maldives each year. It also reflects our excellent relationship with MACL, who have shown great commitment to improving their emergency response capabilities,” he said.
MACL CEO Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed welcomed the donation, noting the company’s strict emergency protocols and its focus on ensuring staff are well-trained and prepared. He expressed appreciation for the continued support from the British High Commission.
The donation builds on recent UK-Maldives security collaboration, including the joint emergency exercise ‘Amaan Asseyri’ held in May 2025, and aligns with broader Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office goals on regional security in the Indo-Pacific.
