CEO of Merck Foundation Pays Courtesy Call on First Lady

The CEO of Merck Foundation, Senator Dr Rasha Kelej, met with First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed Yesterday. The courtesy call occurred during the First Lady’s official visit to Tanzania, where she served as the Guest of Honour at the 11th Edition of the Merck Foundation Africa Asia Luminary Annual Conference.

During the meeting, Dr Kelej provided an overview of the foundation’s initiatives aimed at promoting women’s empowerment and improving disease management. She highlighted the foundation’s specialist training programmes, which focus on building capacity in various medical fields.

First Lady Madam Sajidha addressed the global challenges faced by women, specifically noting infertility as a significant concern for many Maldivian women. She reaffirmed the current Administration’s commitment to women’s health, reiterating President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to tackle infertility issues in the Maldives. The discussion also explored potential collaborations between the Merck Foundation and the Maldives to address the urgent needs of women further.
