China Donates 10 Civil Vehicles to Strengthen Ties with Maldives
The People’s Republic of China has generously donated 10 civil vehicles to the Maldives, further strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Wang Lixin, presided over a special ceremony at the former waste transfer station in Male’ on Thursday evening, where the vehicles were officially handed over. These vehicles, a gift from Shandong province of China, are intended to support municipal activities within the Maldives.
Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works, Adam Shareef, gratefully accepted the vehicles on behalf of the Maldivian government, acknowledging the significance of this contribution to waste collection and other municipal functions.
Ambassador Wang Lixin, speaking at the ceremony, expressed confidence that the vehicles would greatly enhance waste management and other public works across different Maldivian cities, ultimately enhancing the beauty of the country.
In addition to the vehicle donation, the Ministry of Health has entered into an agreement with the Chinese government for the procurement of laboratory equipment for 17 islands in the Maldives. Moreover, a shipment of 1,500 tonnes of drinking water, donated by China, arrived in the Maldives on Wednesday.
This act of goodwill follows President Dr. Muizzu’s inaugural state visit to China since taking office, during which several significant agreements were reached between the two nations, highlighting the continued cooperation and friendship between China and the Maldives.
