Valued at approximately USD 3.6 million, the agreement encompasses various aspects, including resource development and technical expertise provision, all aimed at ensuring the upkeep of the bridge.

Among the specified tasks are the establishment of a maintenance records management system and the conduct of assessments to pinpoint maintenance requirements. Additionally, provisions are made for enhancing the capabilities of local technicians to undertake maintenance activities effectively.

Upon the conclusion of the three-year period, as outlined by the Infrastructure Ministry, the responsibility for maintenance will transition to a local team, indicating a long-term strategy for sustaining the bridge’s integrity.

The Sinamale’ Bridge, a vital link connecting Male’ City with suburban Hulhumale’ and Hulhule’—home to the national airport—was constructed at a cost of around USD 200 million. Its inauguration took place on August 30, 2018.
