Tourism statistics indicate that 66,418 tourists visited the Maldives in the first ten days of August alone, pushing total arrivals this year to 1.3 million — a 9.1 percent rise from the 1.2 million recorded in the same period in 2024. On average, 6,642 tourists are arriving daily.

The Maldives recorded its highest annual tourist arrivals in 2024, welcoming 2,047,435 visitors — a nine percent increase from 2023, and the first time the country crossed the two million mark in a calendar year.

The government has set a target of attracting 2.3 million tourists in 2025, alongside efforts to improve occupancy rates across resorts, guesthouses, and hotels.
