Chinese Tourist Dies After Diving Incident in Fuvahmulah
A 70-year-old Chinese tourist died today after collapsing shortly after a dive at Tiger Shark Point, off the coast of Fuvahmulah City.
The incident was reported to the Maldives Police Service at 11:26 am. According to the Fuvahmulah City Council, the man had just returned to a diving boat following an underwater excursion. He was reportedly in the process of removing his dive suit when he suddenly lost consciousness.
Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Fuvahmulah City Hospital. The tourist was diving with a centre based in Fuvahmulah, a popular destination in the southern Maldives known for its rich marine life.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
