City Council Seeks Applicants for Carnival Stage Redevelopment Project
Male’ City Council has announced that it is inviting bids from interested parties to demolish the existing stage at the Carnival area and construct a new one.
The council stated that applicants must be prepared to supply their own materials for the construction of the new stage. Applications for the project are now open, with the deadline set for 16th December 2024. Bidding will take place on the same day at the Male’ City Council offices.
Eligible applicants include Maldivian companies, partnerships, and entities holding local investment and commercial permits.
The selected bidder will be responsible for demolishing the existing stage, safely disposing of all waste generated, and completing the construction of the new stage. This includes developing the design concept, obtaining relevant permits, and managing all engineering, electrical, plumbing, and finishing work.
This redevelopment follows the Council’s decision in July to upgrade the Carnival area to modern standards. Mayor Azim had previously raised concerns about the deteriorating condition of the existing structures at the site, highlighting their potential risks to public safety.
The original stage at Alimas Carnival was first built in 2004 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Majeedhiya School and has since hosted music performances and political events.
Interested parties are urged to apply before the 16th December deadline.
