Coastal Clean-Up Removes Over Two Tonnes of Waste From Hulhumale’ Shoreline

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has cleared 2.1 tonnes of waste from Hulhumale’s shoreline as part of its 2025 coastal clean-up activity.
The initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Maldives Ocean Plastic Alliance (MOPA) and Parley Maldives.

According to HDC statistics, 252.7 kilograms of recyclable plastic were removed, alongside 115 kilograms of other plastics, 63 kilograms of metal and aluminium, 52 kilograms of glass, and 1.6 tonnes of other debris.
The clean-up covered the coastline of Hulhumale’ Phase 1, Phase 2, and the area surrounding the bridge, contributing to efforts to maintain the island’s environmental sustainability.
