Commissioner Highlights Role of Women Officers on Maldives Women in Policing Day

Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen has reaffirmed the Maldives Police Service’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for women officers on the occasion of Maldives Women in Policing Day.

The annual day, observed on 17 September, is dedicated to recognising the contributions of female officers within the force.

In his message to commemorate the day, Commissioner Naveen expressed pride in the role women play in policing, noting their dedication, courage and professionalism as a significant strength to the service. He highlighted the importance of women officers in frontline duties and their role in engaging with all segments of society, describing this as vital to ensuring public safety and equality.

The Commissioner also acknowledged the progress achieved in advancing women’s participation in the police service, with female officers now holding leadership positions. He said this reflects the potential for continued growth and empowerment within the institution.

Naveen emphasised that the success of the Maldives Police Service is built on maintaining public trust, providing security, and upholding justice. He reiterated that fostering diversity, fairness and equality remains central to the force’s objectives.
