Conference on Supporting Youth and At-Risk Children Held in AA. Atoll
A two-day conference dedicated to addressing youth challenges and providing support for at-risk children concluded on 24 October in AA. Atoll.
The event was jointly organised by the Family and Child Protection Unit of the Maldives Police Service and UNICEF Maldives, bringing together key stakeholders to address issues facing vulnerable youth in the region.
Discussions at the conference highlighted concerns related to juvenile delinquency, drug abuse, domestic violence, bullying, and blackmail, which affect young people in AA. Atoll. As part of the proceedings, a draft action plan was proposed to tackle these issues through coordinated strategies and local support mechanisms.
The conference saw the participation of Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Shakir, head of the Family and Child Protection Unit, and Chief Superintendent of Police Farid Ismail, North Central Police Commander.
Other senior police officials, departmental heads, and representatives from both the Atoll Police Station and UNICEF were also in attendance, engaging in dialogue on safeguarding youth and strengthening protective services for at-risk children.
The action plan developed during the event is expected to inform future initiatives aimed at improving support for vulnerable children and youth in AA. Atoll.
Earlier this year, authorities launched intervention measures to address juvenile delinquency after a boy was bullied inside a mosque in AA. Rasdhoo in April.
