The conference, spanning from October 21st to October 29th, convened professionals and experts in the field of corrections from across the globe.

Sponsored by the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) under the US Department of Justice, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the British High Commission, the event provided a platform to discuss the conference’s overarching theme, “Human Corrections: What More Can We Do?”

Throughout the event, participants engaged in discussions highlighting the challenges and advancements in prison management. The exchange also delved into the utilisation of modern technology and shared research findings, showcasing the achievements made by several developed nations.

As part of their visit, the MCS team had the opportunity to tour two correctional facilities managed by the Belgian Prison Service. The UNODC facilitated their access to these institutions, offering valuable insights and comparative perspectives on prison management practices.

The engagement at the ICPA Annual Conference provided the MCS team with a platform for learning and knowledge exchange, aiming to incorporate global best practices into their local corrections framework.
