The Maldives Correctional Services (MCS) has declined the request for additional relief from former President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Yameen sought further concessions to engage in political activities, a request that has been denied by the corrections department.
The corrections department had granted Yameen relief from curfew restrictions and permission to meet with others. However, according to an official from the services, the request for additional relief was rejected based on legal constraints.
Despite the restriction on participating in political activities, Yameen has reportedly attended various political meetings and discussions.
The corrections department is currently investigating the matter, and there have been suggestions of potential repercussions for the existing concessions, though no official action has been taken thus far.
